Heatwave descends on San Diego. Just after 12:30 a.m. PDT, and my smartwatch says 28 C outdoors. Tomorrow’s expected high: 32. Air is muggy by SoCal standards but mild (45 percent) compared to the East Coast. While I manage, the cats suffer. Felines don’t sweat, and they are furry, so they don’t dissipate heat well. Tip: Cats lick themselves to stay cool, not just to stay clean. Evaporation is the ticket, baby. I wet down the kitties with a wet paper towel to help the process.
