Real Southern California Christmas Tree

For all my snowbound friends wondering what December is like here in San Diego, look no further than this orange tree in a neighbor’s yard on Monroe Ave. a few blocks from my apartment. While you decorate pine and spruce conifers with bulbs and lights, nature grows luscious globes all around here.

Hey, I am not rubbing your nose—red from frigid air—in our year-round growing season but share my continued amazement seeing fruit trees grow outside residents’ homes seemingly everywhere. Sure, there are traditional Christmas decorations to be seen all about, but I sometimes wonder why when budding beauty is God’s gift for the holidays and rest of the year.

I captured the Featured Image using iPhone X at 4:08 p.m. PST today, or about 35 minutes before sunset. The photo is cropped and altered. I applied the Technicolor Process 4 filter in Alien Skin Exposure X3, mainly because I edit such so rarely and to make the green leaves and oranges pop off the screen; they look so much more festive this way. Vitals: f/1.8, ISO 40, 1/125 sec, 4mm.
