Sweet Memory

Last week I upgraded the memory on my 1.67GHz PowerBook G4 to 2GB. The computer came with 1GB of memory, which used to be plenty. But with Apple’s Aperture and bunches of programs running, more was needed.

What’s amazing is how much of a difference the extra RAM made, with respect to overall performance. That’s real credit to Mac OS X and how it manages memory. I’ve upgraded plenty of Windows PCs’ memory, even to 2GB, and have never seen this kind performance boost—rarely any in fact.
