MacBook Goes to Guatemala

My sister the missionary—I have two others, but not missionaries—asked my buying advice for a new laptop. In the past, I helped outfit her with a Sony VAIO S Series notebook. This time, after much deliberation with her husband, she will take my advice and get a MacBook.

Yeah, I’m recommending an Apple. The MacBook is a great value, and she can run Windows using Apple’s Boot Camp—or so she thinks. I’m determined to convince her she really doesn’t need Windows on the MacBook. For the Microsoft operating system, she can use the VAIO.

I’m also going to set her up with a .Mac account so she can stop paying Earthlink seven bucks a month and start posting photos and even blogs online. The .Mac account could be crucial for promoting her missionary work. My sister and brother-and-law must raise their own money, so a little promotion could go a long way to extending their work. With Google’s Blogger, Gmail and the such, she could do more than .Mac. But, heck, the woman has got to take baby steps here.
