My father-in-law generously offered to buy my daughter a car for graduation/birthday (I couldn’t afford to particularly with her coming college expenses).
We decided on Hertz rental sales, to get something newer, with lower miles, and within the generous $12k budget. Today we drove to the local Hertz office only to find it closed for the holiday weekend.
Next door is a car dealer that we decided to check out. There we fell in love with this 1998 BMW Z3 2.8L sportster, with 82k miles. After some negotiating, and confirming ownership and maintenance records, we got the car for $10,500, tax and tags. Gulp. Did we get a good deal?
