Flickr a Day 68: ‘Elliott Erwitt Revisité’

Yesterday’s featured photographer, Stefano Corso, cites Elliot Erwitt as one of his influences. So I searched Flickr for the street shooter, expecting not to find him—and I didn’t. But self-titled “Elliott Erwitt Revisité”, by Jean François, caught my attention.

Jean says: “Je suis Fan de E.Erwitt. Très Très loin d’égaler ce grand artiste, ce n’est juste qu’un clin d’œil”, which Google translates: “I’m a fan of E.Erwitt. Very, very far short of this great artist; this is just a glance”. I presume the photo means to capture the essence of this Elliot Erwitt photo taken in New York City (circa 1964).

Take your pick, er, pic. I fancy both. Jean shot his more modern-day take on Oct. 14, 2014, using the Nikon D800. Vitals: f/8, ISO 400, 1/40 sec, 56mm. He joined Flickr in April 2012, and he maintains a professional photography website.
