Flickr a Day 132: ‘Grandchildren’

Truck driver Richard Clark surely gets around. I don’t know how much drama he encounters on the road, but there is plenty in his photography. He is from the Adobe Photoshop school of imagery. Some shooters capture the moment—what the eye sees—while others open new expanse with post-processing. But the best from either camp requires keen eye for composition, which he demonstrates.

As such, choosing just one of his photos is an overwhelming challenge. So many of them appeal. I narrowed my choice to three: self-titled runners-up “Elephant” and “Thamesport” and final selection “Grandchildren”, which Richard shot on June 21, 2014, using Canon EOS 7D and EF 70-200mm f/4L USM lens. Vitals: f/5, ISO 100, 1/250 sec, 104mm. The photo makes the Day for composition, which is fresh for a personal portrait. “Never can get them all to pose nicely; there is always one that plays up”, he says of the kids.

Richard joined Flickr, where he remains active, in January 2008. “I have been taking photos all my life, but only the digital age has allowed me to look more closely at photography”, he says. The self-described “photographer and trucker” lives in Dover Kent, United Kingdom.
