Flickr a Day 222: ‘Sun at the Lighthouse’

Sometimes the photo you get isn’t the one you take but the one you make. “This was not exactly the composition I wanted, but I just didn’t wanted any people in the shot”, Miroslav Petrasko says about today’s selection. “And for the few minutes during the sunset, when there were no people near the lighthouse, I just took the best shot I could. But still I had to remove one ship from the photo, I just didn’t like it there. Still, the sunset was nice, and the whole trip to this spot was a success. 🙂 ”

Funny thing: I see the composition as being dynamic, extremely appealing. “This is a HDR from 5 exposures, created in Oloneo Photoengine, finished in Photoshop”, he says. “I used a 10-stop ND filter while taking this photo”. Miroslav shot self-titled “Sun at the Lighthouse” on June 12, 2015, in Vienna, Austria, using Canon EOS 5D Mark II and Canon 16-35mm F2.8 lens. Vitals: f/16, ISO 100, 5 seconds (for middle exposure), 16mm. Not surprisingly, he used a tripod.

Game designer and burgeoning photographer Miroslav lives in Bratislava, Slovakia. In February 2009 he joined Flickr, which isn’t the best showcase of his HDR art.
