Flickr a Day 303: ‘Something Fishy’

I can’t get enough of portraits like this, where light pierces darkness to illuminate a child’s face. I would have composed differently until looking longer at self-titled “Something Fishy”. I like. I like. Overall quality is soft, but proves to be effective here. The hues are pleasing.

Caden Crawford captured the moment on Feb. 22, 2013, using Canon EOS Rebel T2i and EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens. Oh, baby, what a prime! Vitals: f/18, ISO 100, 1/20 sec, 50mm. From Red Lodge, Montana, he joined Flickr in May 2012. He is most active on Tumblr and keeps an (outdated) Facebook

I prepared today’s selection on October 24th, only to discover a problem with the website bearing Caden’s name, so I sent friendly email:

I’m a long-time tech journalist, and on my own site for 2015 I am featuring one photo from Flickr by a different photographer every day. I picked one of yours for October 30.

I do a little research on everyone featured and see that your domain expired on October 18. You’re about to lose it, buddy. Is that what you really want to do? Your name domain is a valuable commodity. My advice: Don’t lose it. Renewal doesn’t cost much. I registered my domain name (joewilcox.com) in 1999. Seriously, if you don’t haul over to GoDaddy quick, some huckster or squatter will grab your domain.

Just some friendly advice.

Six days later, the domain remains in jeopardy, not renewed.
