Thanksgiving Snow

Snow fell tonight in Washington, a rare delight in the nation’s capital, made more delightful by the timing. In about 20 years of living here, I can’t recall Thanksgiving snow.

Still, I managed to turn my immediate joy to complete frustration. I took pictures of the backyard as snow fell, using all three of my lenses. First round I held the camera, and the second round I used a tripod. I took 85 pictures, none of which is any good.

Sometimes, the Canon EOS 20D absolutely frustrates me. Maybe it’s too much the camera for me; I consistently have trouble getting sharp images. I had good composition on most of the pictures taken, and some excellent captures of moving snow. But nothing, absolutely nothing, is sharp. I can blame camera shake for those pictures taken while holding the camera. But what about those taken with the tripod?

Sigh.
