I lived in the Washington, D.C. area for more than two decades before moving to San Diego eight years ago. Particularly as the presidential election approaches, my pining for the city increases. Crazy is the longing, with our weather, which is unseasonably warm. Forecast is 26 degrees C tomorrow and the next day. D.C. forecast for December 7th: 12 degrees C.
I shot this photo on Oct. 3, 2004, with the Canon EOS 20D and the best prime used then and ever since—the Canon EF 135 f/2L, which is wicked fast and super sharp. The kit made a great street photography companion. The long reach meant I could capture candidly from afar and later crop in close, assured the image would crisp throughout.
