I remember when about a decade ago, Canon released an EOS 20D model for astrophotography. It was an exciting development for backyard stargazers. Here we have a capture taken with something less that is something more. Bryan James used the Motorola-made, Google-branded Nexus 6 and 130mm AWB OneSky telescope to shoot the moon, on July 23, 2015. Vitals: f/2, ISO 117, 1/120 sec, 3.8mm.
Nexus 6 is something less, because Bryan could capture Earth’s primary satellite without need of a clunky dSLR. The smartphone is something more because of its comparative size to other handsets: 6-inch screen. The moon shot demonstrates how much photography has changed over 10 years.
The IT professional, who uses handle Cyber Cowboy on Flickr, joined the service in August 2011. But all the photos currently in his photostream were shot this year.
