Let me preface this post by strongly saying that the Featured Image isn’t an expression about my attitude with respect to the current crisis in the Middle East. Rather, I observe surprising graffiti and use it to illustrate current events.
A tenuous ceasefire is underway between Israel and adversaries in Gaza and Lebanon. Earlier today, Hamas released the first three of 33 hostages in exchange for 90 by the Israelis. Some quarters credit incoming President Donald Trump for making the deal possible.
According to the Economist:
Mr. Trump seems to have been the X factor. He made it clear to the Israelis he has no desire to enter the White House having to manage yet more war in the Middle East. That seems to have helped secure a deal in Lebanon, and now one in Gaza.
In Washington, DC, tomorrow, Trump will be inaugurated as the 47th president of the United States. Here in San Diego, a pro-Palestinian youth group is among the participants/supporters behind an anti-Trump rally taking place in Balboa Park, about five hours after Trump’s swearing in. Posters are about my neighborhood of University Heights. I have no plans to attend.
Is the Gaza graffiti related? Perhaps. The rock sits about a stone’s throw from our apartment—hence my interest taking the photo, which comes from Nikon Zf and NIKKOR 40mm f/2 (SE) lens. Vitals: f/8, ISO 100, 1/250 sec, 40mm; 2:43 p.m. PST, yesterday.
