Sociologist Gianni Dominic captures life with great intimacy. Is that a professional trait applied to photography? Because to properly study societies and cultures, you need to examine everything from different viewpoints. His photos get in close, but often at refreshing angles that illuminate the subject’s character. He favors black and white, which removes distracting colors and emphasizes finer details.
Today’s selection, self-titled “Where Am I?”, is good example. He captured the image on May 29, 2009, using the Panasonic DMC-LX3. Vitals: f/4, ISO 200, 1/500 sec., 5.1mm. In 2015, he shoots with another stout compact: Sony DSC-RX100 III, which I highly recommend. Gianni joined Flickr in April 2005. He lives in Rome, Italy.
