Today’s selection comes from the UK Ministry of Defense photostream. Sgt Mike Fletcher shot self-titled “Portrait of a Soldier from the Royal Regiment of Scotland” on Jan. 21, 2010, using the Nikon D3. Vitals: f/3.5, 1/160, 175mm. ISO isn’t captured in the EXIF, but forget that. Whoa, 175mm—for a portrait? Not exactly up close and personal now is it?
But the facial expression and detail captured, along with superb composition, make the pic and easy pick. Note: I enlarged the image, as the original falls below the minimum resolution for this series.
