Daring Daffodils

Soon after shooting the Monarch on the aromatic purple flowers, on Feb. 23, 2021, I captured a delightful collection of daffodils; but they bleached out in the sunlight and they weren’t focused within the narrow depth of field. So I returned two hours later for another chance; the resulting Featured Image, while better, still isn’t what I wanted; adjusting exposure value improved over the earlier attempts. Vitals, aperture manually set: f/2.8, ISO 100, 1/2000 sec, -1 EV, 28mm; 12:15 p.m. PST, Leica Q2.

The flowers rose up on the other side of the sidewalk, closer to the street, almost directly in front of the house where Gracie lived. She was profiled in my “Cats of University Heights” series on April 15, 2018 (she passed away the following year). Sixteen days ago, I photographed kitty Champagne about a meter away from where the daffodils would be.
