Flickr a Day 161: ‘McDonald’s #1 Store Museum’

American fast food is perhaps best known by the iconic hamburger, which Frank Kehren captures with self-titled “McDonald’s #1 Store Museum”. The recreated restaurant represents the ninth opened but first official in the chain; Des Plaines, Ill., April 15, 1955. Architect Stanley Metson designed the eatery. The first McDonald’s, before there was Ray Kroc ownership or franchises, was a Bar-B-Q that opened in San Bernardino, Calif. circa 1940.

Frank, who lives in Knoxville, Tenn., used the Canon EOS-1D X to shoot our selection, on Feb. 2, 2015. Vitals: f/11, ISO 200, .8 sec, 17mm. Composition and clarity win the Day. He joined Flickr in November 2006.
