The week goes to Willy Verhulst and self-titled “Luberon“, or as he elaborates: “Meeting with a survivor of the past”. The portrait is evocative, and demonstrates how black-and-white photography can strip away distractions so that the eye focuses on what matters: The gent’s fierce facial determination and the come on, you can catch up, buddy, look the dog gives him. The goats between and behind punctuate the composition and give greater 3-D depth.
Willy used Nikon Z 6 and NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S lens to capture the moment, on Sept. 17, 2019. Vitals: f/8, ISO 360, 1/400 sec, 65mm. The Belgian, who is a retired production manager, joined Flickr in August 2012.
