‘Talkin’ ’bout a Revolution’

These posters suddenly are all about my San Diego neighborhood of University Heights. Ah, do these people not know the killing machine that is communism? I did some quick Googling this evening seeking an answer.

Marking a century since the 1917 revolution, Wall Street Journal published, on Nov. 6, 2017: “100 Years of Communism—and 100 Million Dead“. Dek: “The Bolshevik plague that began in Russia was the greatest catastrophe in human history”. Same year, October 28, from Cato Institute: “100 Years of Communism: Death and Deprivation“.

More recently, Nov. 9, 2022, Reason published: “Data on Mass Murder by Government in the 20th Century“. Dek: Communists killed the most, followed by fascists”. Succinctly: “Overall, the communists murdered approximately 168,759,000 from 1900 to 1987”. My question: How many more from 1988? I don’t have an answer from my quick research.

Another valuable resource brings atrocities to currency while remembering past murders: Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation.

The link in the Featured Image leads to “Socialist Revolution”, which “is the official publication of the US Section of the International Marxist Tendency”, which resides at what must be a coveted domain: marxist dot com. Among the recent headline stories: “Hands Off Yemen! Imperialists Protect Profits and Israel’s Right to Commit Genocide” and “Can a Socialist Revolution Happen in the United States?” In answer: I would argue that socialist cultural revolution is well underway.

I used Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra for this one. Vitals: f/1.7, ISO 10, 1/320 sec, 23mm (film equivalent); 12:09 p.m. PST, Jan. 10, 2024.

The post’s title pays homage to the 1988 Tracy Chapman song of the same name.
