The view—looking East towards Cleveland Ave. along Monroe in University Heights—could easily be current. Heavy rains pelted San Diego County, yesterday. In response to widespread, destructive flooding, today, Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency.
Returning to the photo, to the left is a towering palm before my daughter’s powder blue convertible. Fronds frequently fell from the tree, as this post from December 2017 shows. The tree is gone now. The mighty giant was chopped down nearly two years later—December 2019.
But why?
