Getting Good Graffiti

Last Summer, I started seeing sophisticated graffiti splash upon utility boxes across University Heights. My mistake. The San Diego village commissioned local artists to dress up the boxes, and so they did to about 51 of them.

The Featured Image and first companion catch artists at work on a box located near the intersection of Florida Street and El Cajon Blvd. Both photos come from Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, on Aug. 17, 2025. Vitals, first: f/3.4, ISO 32, 1/500 sec, (synthetic) 230mm (digital and optical zoom); 3:02 p.m. PDT.

The second shot’s vitals are same except for 1/640 sec and 3:04 p.m.

The third is the finished work taken with the same smartphone two days later. Vitals: f/1.7, ISO 80, 1/5000 sec, 23mm (film equivalent); 3:36 p.m.

The fourth is located at El Cajon and Texas, in front of the McDonald’s. Vitals: f/1.7, ISO 64, 1/8000 sec, 23mm (film equivalent); 12:20 p.m., Aug. 19, 2025; Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The fifth can be found on Howard near Florida, on Oct. 10, 2025. I used Nikon Zf and NIKKOR Z 28-400mm f/4-8 VR lens for this one. Vitals: f/7.1, ISO 100, 1/400 sec, 28mm; 10: 55 a.m.

The last also is a Zf shot, but with NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S lens attached on Aug. 22, 2025. Vitals: f/5.6, ISO 140, 1/250 sec, 50mm; 8 a.m.; Adams Avenue near the overlook.
