After five days of Comic-Con—189, 190, 191, 192, 193—it’s time for something serene. Tom Gill carves out a unique niche, specializing in landscape photography in and around Lake Michigan. He captured today’s selection on June 22, 2015, at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, using Nikon D7000 and 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. Vitals: f/8, ISO 100, 1/160 sec, 18mm.
Self-titled “Heading Out” takes the Day for appearing to be one thing but being another. My first reaction: That’s the ocean, or a bay. It’s a lake! Tom gives simple, but compelling, perspective of the expanse, which the subjects in the distance extenuate.
He joined Flickr in July 2006, but you should visit his website, where there is context for the photos. He also blogs for the Huffington Post.
