I am so embarrassed. My ancestors on both sides of the family emigrated from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, respectively—and, being a border baby, my attitudes are much more Canadian than American. So how then could I forget the country’s celebration of 153 years? Maybe my attention is too diverted by rising Novel Coronavirus cases and recent riots and protests here in the United States. Self-titled “Happy Canada Day!” should have been today’s profiled photo—no disrespect to the fine “Moving House—The Philippine Way“, which would have been just as worthy next week.
Kurt Bauschardt used Pentax K-1 to capture the fireworks, on July 1, 2019, in River Valley Walterdale, Alberta. Vitals: f/22, ISO 100, 7 sec, 24mm. The photo marks the moment for composition, storytelling, surrealism, and topicality. Kurt, who lives in Edmonton, joined Flickr in March 2010.
